My two cents about the Republican primaries and caucuses.
Not only are issues like women’s rights and health, LGBT equality—equality, for shit’s sake, are at risk with the crop of Republican ideologues (and Obama’s bad?), but the very meaning of what it is to be an American is getting lost and destroyed in these primaries. The Republicans should not be focusing on who can best defeat Obama in November, or who can outlast Obama in a debate (which, honestly, is no one currently in the race), but who can best lead this country. Who can pull us up by the bootstraps.
It’s halftime, America. Do we want to get out of the mud? Or do we want to lay down and wallow in the mud?
